Our Michigan motorcycle accident lawyer  is reporting a fatal Allendale Township motorcycle accident that killed Coly Vanderwerf, on Saturday, March 17th, on Lake Michigan Drive near 88th Avenue Street. According to police, Vanderwerf failed to stop for a car in front of him that was slowing down for another car making a left turn. Due to motorcycle accident, Vanderwerf was ejected from his motorcycle and killed. Myra Amaro-Avarez, the driver of the vehicle in front of him did not sustain any injures in the motorcycle accident.

Even though motorcyclists only account for 3 percent of registered vehicles, they contribute to 13 percent of car accidents. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA),  78 percent of all motorcycle accidents occur between a motorcycle and a car. In addition, 68 percent of all rear end accidents involving a motorcycle rear ending a vehicle.

I am terribly sorry to hear about this tragic accident. My condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim.

The family of the deceased victim may be able to make a claim for Survivor Loss Benefits. This can include payment of funeral expenses and loss of other services.
