Michigan Motorcycle Training Instructor | How to Become a Rider Coach

Experienced riders with good driving records may be able to become motorcycle training instructors. The Motorcycle Safety Foundation will certify people who meet the following requirements as Rider Coaches.

  • Be over the age of 18
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement
  • Have no more than 6 points on their driving record for moving violations for the 12 months prior to applying to become a Rider Coach.
  • Be sponsored by a Michigan Department of State approved public or private organization that offers rider safety training courses.
  • Successfully complete a Rider Coach Preparation Course.
